Building Community Resilience: Early Warning Systems for a Safer Tomorrow
At Genasys, we continue to redefine the realm of emergency communications, safeguarding communities worldwide in an ever-changing global landscape. We advance with several key wins that underscore our dedication to enhancing safety and resilience.
Last quarter we achieved remarkable milestones. The 5-year contract with Los Angeles County for Genasys Protect EVAC and order for Genasys Protect ACOUSTICS for 37 dams across Puerto Rico reinforce our position as a trusted partner for public safety and disaster preparedness. This reflects our proven track record and quality assurance, which is achieved through the constant efforts of everyone at Genasys.
On another note, it is with mixed emotions that we bid farewell to our esteemed colleague and friend, Pablo Colom. Pablo has been an integral part of the Genasys family, contributing his expertise and dedication to our success over the years. While we will miss him, we wish Pablo all the best in his well-deserved retirement and future endeavors.
I am filled with pride at what we've accomplished together and excitement for the opportunities that lie ahead. With our recent successes and continued momentum, we are well-positioned to drive even greater impact and innovation.
I invite you to read the rest of our newsletter to learn more about Genasys and our progress in enhancing safety and resilience.
Stay safe,

Genasys has been selected to design, source, and construct an Emergency Warning System that will communicate potential threats to hundreds of thousands of people living and working downstream of Puerto Rico’s extensive dam system in the event of an emergency. The $94.2 million project will provide Genasys Protect ACOUSTICS communications equipment and software, sensors, and predictive analytics capabilities over the vast system of 37 interconnected dams and associated infrastructure.
“Using (Genasys Protect EVAC) just makes sense for a jurisdiction as complex as Los Angeles County. The platform allows us to be more efficient and improve coordination and collaboration with our many public safety partners when planning for emergency evacuations. Improved stakeholder engagement is another benefit and has already resulted in improved cross-jurisdictional accuracy and a more streamlined planning process.”
- Bennett Cummings, Associate Director, LA County Office of Emergency Mgt.
“The (Genasys Protect) Early Warning System (EWS) is vital to the community’s safety. Through these alarm systems, people will be notified in case of emergencies such as extreme floods, controlled flood releases, or seismic activity, so they can take timely action to reduce disaster risks. Besides helping save lives and property, this will strengthen disaster preparedness and risk reduction in the communities located downstream of each dam.”
- José G. Baquero, Federal Disaster Recovery Coordinator, FEMA
“LRAD is a game changer for communication between the police and the public. If we can effectively communicate...we reduce the chances of anybody getting hurt.”
- Sgt. J.E. Armstrong, Greensboro, NC PD
